I choose my shooting profile to match the lighting that I am shooting under, so for flat overcast light outside I might use the GH4 "Standard" color profile which is pretty contrasty but it helps me deal with dull flat light, where something shot under sunlight I might use the "Natural" or "Cine-D" profile. Just out of curiosity, since you have Film Convert and the Leeming Lut, could you, briefly, lay out your workflow, like, color correct, correction LUT, tweak, etc. Something like that? I don't want you to go to too much trouble. I did find a LUT called Cine D to BMCC which gives a really bland, flat appearance to work with, but I'm guessing it's not the same as the Leeming LUT.
I need to find a good tutorial that explains when to apply a "grading LUT" or when to apply a "correction LUT", etc. Most of the time I end up removing the effect, so I must be doing something wrong.

Yeah, I can actually pinpoint certain colors in the video with the latest Premiere Pro so I do have more leeway, but I've stopped being such a "purist" (flattest profiles possible, etc) and try to get it right in camera. Try interpolate down sampleing 4K clips to 1080P and see if you have any more leeway in grading. You're can't really grade compressed footage very much, it will fall apart fast.
